Thistle Bug

I saw this beetle while visiting Lake Diefenbaker in Saskatchewan. It’s a long narrow lake, almost like a widened section of the river that it’s a part of. But on the banks of the lake overlooking the water are tall grasses and thistles. This bug must have been an inch or an inch and a half long – it was huge. And a little scary to get close to to photograph, but well worth it, I think.
